This is a genuine handwritten and signed letter from A. W. (Arthur) Pink to a Christian
friend postmarked 20 Dec 1948. Mr. Pink's return address is listed in the letter as 29
Lewis St., Stornaway, Isle of Lewis, Scotland. The stamp is cancelled Stornaway, Isle
of Lewis. Evidently Mr. Pink recycled the envelope because it has his address under a
glued on piece of paper with the following address Elder J. R. Smith, R 5, Box 35,
Reidsville, No. Car., U.S.A. (See photo) . The letter reads Dear Christian friend:
Greetings in Him Who has given His people so much cause to exclaim, O how great is
Thy goodness, which Thou hast laid up in Christ, the covenant Head for them that
fear Thee Psa 31:19. A sample or earnest of the same they (illegible) in this life but
the best wine of the Kingdom is reserved for the life to come. I thank you for your
letters of Nov 28 & 29 & I only wish I could reply at equal length, but I have had such
a long & hard day's work that both my brain & eyes are weary: & I dare not postpone
till tomorrow, for that God willing will bring its own duties, & probably another heavy
mail. I get letters seeking help & counsel on all sorts of personal problems, & others
asking for explanations of passages of scripture which require time & thought to
answer properly. I believe I acknowledged in my last the arrival of your generous
(illegible) (Back of letter says)...names you mentioned. You did not, this time,
specify your sons J.E. & W.T. nor T.K. Saunders. The Lord bless, & make you a

This letter was passed down to me from my deceased pastor. If you can prove to me
that you are a descendant of one of the persons mentioned in the letter, I will discount
the price. Copies of birth certificates and drivers license of pertinent parties should

by author S. G. Reed. Rare and collectible book in fairly good condition, but spine

Houston
This is a hardcover book It is a signed first edition of the life of Sam Houston told to
the author by Houston's personal slave, Jeff Hamilton. Hamilton lived to over 100
years old and had a clear mind and good memory and knew first hand about Sam
Houston's viewpoints on many things. Hamilton was born in 1840 and sold into
slavery in 1853. Sam Houston died in 1863. There is a photograph of Hamilton that
was reproduced from a painting by Warren Hunter of Chicago and owned by Dr. C. H.
Langford of Goose Creek, Texas. The book is signed by Lenoir Hunt. This is a very
rare and desirable book for the Texana collector. It is an intimate look at the General and
his family by someone who knew him well. It has 141 pages and measures 6 1/4 by 9
1/4 inches. It is in good condition with complete text. No dust jacket. Binding is tight
and hinges are strong. It has a paste down on the front fly page from the previous
owner. It is numbered # 467 Autographed First Edition of an unspecified number of
limited editions signed by Lenoir Hunt.
